King of the Jungle!

I had a few requests for wild animals this week, most popular being the lion.
So may I introduce the King of the Jungle!

Handmade from fleece and faux fur, this guy has a long tail, hand-painted plastic
safety eyes and a roaring personality!

A few other request I got for wild animals included the rhino, elephant and turtle.
Is there a favorite animal you would like to see listed in my shop?
Just comment below and the animal with the most votes
will appear in next week's listings!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Spider or Octopus?!?

This weekend while working on some new items, I had the cutest idea for a little purple spider. Unfortunately, it did not exactly turn out how I had hoped!

A little squishier than originally intended, I decided to call it an octopus instead!

On another note, I was looking at some interesting facts about Octopuses...

Did you know that octopuses have three hearts?
Two branchial hearts pump blood through each one of the two gills, while the third
is a systemic heart that pumps blood through the body.

Did you know that octopuses have blue blood?
To survive in the depth of the ocean they have a copper rather than iron
based blood which is blue in color.

Did you know that octopuses can smell what they are touching?
An octopus's suctions cups are equipped with chemoreceptors
so it can taste whatever it's touching.

Did you know that octopuses are incredibly intelligent?
Laboratory experiments have shown that octopuses can be readily trained
to distinguish between different shapes and patterns,
and have been shown to use tools.

Did you know octopuses really do come in purple!?!
Check out this Purple Octopus!

This little "octopus" will be available in my Etsy Shop tonight at 7 PM EST!

Have a fantastic week!

I haven't posted in a while, but I've been hard at work on some new designs!

New this week is a fisherman inspired by some artwork done by
one of my favorite shops on Etsy... Gemini Studio!

As always, my artwork starts with a small sketch or design.  In this case I wasn't sure if I wanted to make his body
an oval or rectangular shape.  I ended up using the rectangular shape which made it easier to add arms and legs.

The face is made from felt that was sewn directly on to the face making this fisherman 100% child safe!

The completed design!  This guy comes with Frederick the fish, his catch of the day!
And a hand knitted beanie hat to give him some added personality!  He is now available in my Etsy shop!
